Hi I am a wife, mother, Meme’,great Meme’ and ruled by 2 Airedale Terriors; feral kitties and 2 chickens; plus I’ve been a professional studio potter since 1990 after 10 years of study in the Arts ( 2 year degree AA in the Arts and 2 year degree in a production crafts program ) too many workshops to list from nationally recognized potters and my own self study and experiments that never end .
I live in Leicester,NC ( a bedroom community of Asheville NC ) I’m actually less than a mile from the town border with Asheville. We have approximately 4 acres here and lots of trees .
One of my hobbies has been collecting metal yard art from artists at craft fairs over the last 20 plus years and recently ( 4-5 years ago) I decided to clean the rust off and paint bomb them in wild brilliant colors and patterns so I could see them better ! It’s been lots of fun and brings happiness to my little patch of dirt here in Leicester.
I’m a member of the prestigious Southern Highlands Craft Guild; Piedmont Craftsmen Guild ;Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild and Odyssey Co Op Gallery.
I’ve been featured on the HGTV Show “That’s Clever”
; have an article in Clay Times; my work has been on tours and is in many collections around the country and world. My favorite collector is YOU ! You are why I work so hard and give my Heart to ! I put love into everything I make and on most of the work I have a motif of a swirl and a heart which symbolizes love into infinity ❤️
My studio and mini gallery are next to my home and a phone call ,text, email or another form of communication before heading here is best as I’ll make time for you and you’ll know I’m there . I generally am home or working most of the time so feel free to contact me any time . 828-775-3747 is my cell and text is best or leave a message to avoid being confused with robo calls .
My email :catjarosz@bellsouth.net is another way to get ahold of me .
The clay body I use is made from local ingredients and is high fire Stoneware which is the very best clay for making everyday useful pottery for baking and serving your loved ones. I design pots that not only work but take the ordinary and turn it into extraordinary. It’s oven proof and bottom rack of dishwasher proof . Most are great in microwave.
The general directions for all clay cooking vessels are NO PREHEAT. Cold oven /room temperature pot 325 degrees F best.
Run large platters, teapots, turreens under hot tap water before adding boiling water and hot foods to keep from shocking . Lastly when taking pot out of hot oven place it on a kitchen towel or wood cutting board and not onto a cold surface like marble .
