McDowell High School Driving Directions Traveling west on I-40 from Hickory:
Take Exit 86 (Hwy. 226N), and turn right at the end of the ramp. Continue straight through two intersections and onto the Bypass. The Bypass ends in a large intersection with Wal-Mart on the left and Taco Bell on the right. Turn left. Go through two intersections and turn left at the third. You will see a sign for West McDowell Junior High. McDowell High School is just beyond the Junior High. Visitors should turn into the circle before reaching the stop sign in front of the school. The main office is in the corner beyond the flag pole. Buses should turn right at the stop sign to enter the bus and student parking lot.

Traveling east on I-40 from Asheville:
Take Exit 81 (Sugar Hill Road) and turn left at the end of the ramp. Go 3-4 miles until you see an overpass with a Burger King and a McDonalds in the distance.
